When considering the principles of IT troubleshooting, there is always a pattern of method to the madness. One of the first steps will be to determine if the fault can be duplicated. If it cannot, then there may not be any solution in the first place. The first course of treatment by IT technicians is often what seems obvious, switching off the device and then rebooting it.” If the problem does not resolve, then the next step is to evaluate the symptoms and probable causes such as components, the operating system and application software failures and use the exclusion technique to find the causative pathology. The aim is mainly to establish the cause, correct it or change the defective part and the problem will be sorted out.
