RAM can be categorized into two generations, DDR4 and DDR5. Out of these two, DDR5 is the most advanced one and it is faster and more efficient compared to its predecessor. It is clear that the compatibility of the RAM generation depends on the motherboard and the CPU, therefore one must choose from the two generations only – DDR4 or DDR5. Most of the contemporary CPUs accept DDR4 while the modern CPUs run on DDR5. However, if the motherboard and the CPU allow the use of two types of RAM, then it is best to use DDR5 since it works better.
