Is it advisable for me to purchase a graphics card at this stage, or would it be wise to put off my purchase until new models come out?

Should I get a graphics card today or should I delay my purchase for some time in the hope of better graphics card launches?

Your requirements and the state of the market will determine the outcome. According to the information available to us, the RTX 590 and RTX 580 are believed to be slated for release in the first quarter of next year, with the mid-range RTX 570 and RTX 560 GPUs likely to be quite far off. AMD's RDNA 4 cards are expected to arrive this autumn and may offer performance somewhere in the range of $500 for the RX 7900 XT. There is no clarity on Intel's Campaign cards owing to their financial turmoil. If you have an instant need for a GPU, have come across a decent deal translating into current lows for this generation of cards, then it is worth buying. If, however, you can wait, future launches may provide better performance or lower the current models’ prices.

These 2 points are why I pulled the trigger on a 4090 a month ago. Do not regret it one bit.

Great content, thanks so much! I'll be building something in the 2-2.5k range from scratch soon, maybe November-ish this year so probably makes sense to be looking at black friday deals I suppose. But to be honest, I sort of feel like with my budget, perhaps it would be better to just hold off until the new gen GPUs?

Thanks Jason love the spreadsheet. Upgraded my trusty 980ti to a 4060ti 16gb that I got open box for $360. Which is a weird choice I know, but CUDA was non-negotiable and needed VRAM for other work as well.

Hi Jason, great content! Got a question for you. I am doing a full build and have started buying new parts. I already bought the 7800x3d and am looking for a GPU to pair with it for 1440P gaming for now but likely upgrading to 4K when GTA 6 comes out. I was going to buy the 4080 super, but this content has me thinking now should I not buy it? I currently have a 2080 and am in desperate need for an upgrade. Should I go "cheaper" and get something like the 7900xt and upgrade to 5000 series next year, or just go 4080 super, budget is not an issue except 4900.

It's a tricky time for graphics cards, as we keep getting closer to new generations of cards being launched. Thumbs up for great content to help people who need one right now!

Did PC Builder retire the price/frame rate value comparison?
