Research demonstrates that self-determined individuals, who are motivated from within to fulfill their long term goals, such as regularly exercising, quitting smoking, or performing better in school, have a better chance of succeeding in those long-term goals than people who are motivated by money or praise from others’.

This kinda helped me. I was thinking of what motivates me internally and it's self care, and prioritizing myself. I can't really focus if I'm not taking care of myself, and I believe I perform greater when I take care of what matters to me than something I'm not interested in doing.

Extrinsic "motivation" sounds more like an obligation rather than a motive, that is why people with intrinsic motivation are more consistent, their feelings and determination to reach their goal are genuine, they feel that it is more awarding rather than obligating.

Great points, it's really important to focus on our intrinsic motivations. There's wisdom in our passions.

Too simplistic. Long term goals, delayed gratification (discipline) and meaning in life are at the core of achievement in life.
